Over 700 newspapers from all over the world are premeiring comic strip creator Patrick McDonnel's "Mutts" adoption series today. McDonnel wrote six related comic strips that encourage folks to consider adopting shelter dogs from shelters rather than puppy mills or pet stores. McDonnel said he was inspired by president elect Barack Obama's statement that he wanted to find a dog for his daughters at a shelter. Obama said "a lot of shelter dogs are mutts like me."
